INSTALLATION
Specialized Repair Tools -- The Seamster
Floors
The
Seamster™ was designed and developed to eliminate the challenges
and frustrations of repairing carpet seams. All carpet installers
and carpet cleaners can utilize it any time a seam has become
separated.
The Seamster™ allows the seam to be easily opened for a better
visual of the seam and to allow for an even application of glue,
without handling the carpet. It prevents the pulling of fibers,
keeps the carpet clean and makes it easier to work with stiff
carpets, such as Berbers.
Instructions:
Simply insert the Seamster™ into the seam, expand the legs of
the tool and lock into position by turning the knob clockwise.
Then, lift up the Seamster™ and pull along the seam opening. The
backing of the carpet will roll along the wheels while the sides
of the carpet glide along the legs of the tool. The back of the
carpeting riding on the wheels gives it an easy pulling motion.
At the same time, starting at one end of the seam, working towards
the other end of the seam, apply the glue in a zigzag motion in
the opened area (avoid applying glue straight down the middle
of the seam, resulting in a high ridge when it cools). Or, if
apply Latex, apply to the edges of the carpet, then using a roller,
roll edges together as you are pulling the Seamster™ along the
seam. At the end of the seam, release the lock, collapse Seamster™,
turn the tool parallel to the seam and lift out. Roll the seam
and add weight.
The Seamster™ can be used with all types of carpet and also on
glue-down carpets that have become loose from their surface.
The Seamster™ is constructed out of a light-weight, heat treated
aluminum for easy handling and durability. The wheels are sealed
bearing to prevent glue from hampering the rolling motion.
